The retail ecosystem in India is innovating and evolving with malls being significant drivers of the changing trends. Much of this evolution is a result of their increasing insight on consumer behaviour, space utilisation and tenant mix. Hence, we see malls bringing in experiential shopping to daily visitors. However, stakeholders involved in this space – mall developers and operators, mall management teams, tenants and the investors -- have to collectively set a trend for the industry and help it register unhindered growth in future as well. All this is being facilitated and enhanced at the India Shopping Centre Forum, an intellectual collaboration and platform for Indian and international thought leaders, who have joined hands for exchange of ideas on the sector.
During the times of major shift in retail landscape, when e-commerce players are re-inventing themselves, shopping malls have kept their momentum as preferred retail destinations, given their constant revamping strategies. Brand mix is the pull-factor for consumers these days, it has to be a balanced process. We have witnessed ups and downs, as the similar amount of people are walking into the mall, and thespend per person has increased, which is a positive sign. But the difference is when the people see the same brands and layouts everywhere in malls, and look forward to a differentiating experience. From my participation at ISCF for many years now, I know that ISCF is a great platform to understand the latest trends, share thoughts and deliberate on challenges and opportunities in the Indian Market
